Shaffer Announces $177,000 in State Grants for Fire, EMS Services in 28th District

February 12, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny) announced fire and emergency response organizations in the 28th Legislative District have been awarded $177,137 in grants from the state.

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not General Fund tax revenue.

“Our volunteer fire companies and EMS providers work tirelessly to keep us safe,” Shaffer said. “This funding helps ensure they have the equipment, training and resources needed to continue serving our communities effectively. I’m proud to support programs that strengthen public safety.”

   • Bradford Woods Volunteer Fire Company - $12,426.
   • Hampton Township Volunteer Fire Department - $15,518.
   • Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Company # 1 - $15,106.
   • McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority EMS - $15,000.
   • Richland EMS Inc. - $15,000.

   • West Deer Volunteer Fire Company # 2 - $15,106.
   • West Deer Volunteer Fire Company # 3 - $16,137.
   • Wexford Volunteer Fire Company - $15,724.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training or reduction of existing debt.
