Shaffer Announces Nearly $1 Million Awarded for Local Water and Sewer Projects

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny) today announced $950,000 in state funding has been awarded to several projects in the 28th District, which covers part of Allegheny County, through the Small Water and Sewer Program.
The program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects.
“Investing in our water and sewer infrastructure is critical to ensuring reliable service and protecting public health,” Shaffer said. “These projects will help address aging systems and improve safety for residents across the district.”
The following grants were awarded:
• Hampton Township - $200,000 for the Gourdhead Sanitary Sewer Interceptor Rehabilitation Project. The project includes replacing sewer system infrastructure along Route 8 and Gourdhead Run, which has experienced structural issues and flooding.
• West View Water Authority - $250,000 for the Northgate Drive Water System Improvement Project. The project includes upgrading a section of the water system along Northgate Drive in Marshall Township. The project will replace 3,170 feet of aging water main to improve service reliability and fire safety and prevent system failures.
• West View Water Authority - $500,000 for the Warrendale Bayne Road, Northgate Drive Water System Improvement Project. The project includes upgrading a section of the water system along Warrendale Bayne Road and Northgate Drive in Marshall Township. The project will replace 2,100 feet of pipe to improve reliability and enhance fire safety.
The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program, established by the General Assembly, provides grants for projects costing between $30,000 and $500,000.
