Shaffer: Grants Awarded to Support First Responders Across 28th District

WEXFORD – Grant funding was awarded to serval critically important first responder companies in the 28th District under the Pennsylvania Fire Company and Emergency Medical Services Grant Program, according to Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny)

Nine fire companies and ambulance squads in the 28th District are recipients of the grants administered by the Office of State Fire Commissioner and Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. The money can be used for construction or renovation, equipment purchases or repairs, and existing debt reductions.

“I am thrilled to see the state supporting our local firefighters and emergency services personal through these grants,” Shaffer said. “Our first responders’ work is critical to protecting our communities and I am grateful for their continued service in doing so.”
Grants awarded within the 28th District are:

- Hampton Township Volunteer Fire Department 1, $12,448.81.
- Marshall Township Volunteer Fire Company, $14,600.59.
- McCandless Franklin Park Ambulance Authority, $15,000.
- North Hampton Township Volunteer Fire Department, $15,030.95.
- Richland EMS Inc., $14,637
- Shaler Area Emergency Medical Services Inc., $15,000.
- West Deer Volunteer Fire Company No. 3, $16,322.02.
- West Deer Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, $15,246.13.
- Wexford Volunteer Fire Company, $16,322.02.

The funding for these grants comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and supported by proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue.
