January 14, 2025
WEXFORD - Today, Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny) shared that the A.W. Beattie Carrer Center in Allegheny County has been awarded an $85,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) through the Career and Technical Centers (CTCs) Competitive Equipment Grants program.
The funds will help CTCs provide students with skills and knowledge to gain high-priority occupations through classes and hands-on learning experiences and will lead to the ability to apply academics to the real-world.
“Our work force is dynamic and ever-changing and requires total investment for the future,” Shaffer said.” “Building a strong region starts with providing our young people with educational opportunities and I am grateful to see the investment into our area.”
The A.W. Beattie Career Center will use the grant to modernize its homeland security law enforcement, firefighting and related programs with a new ambulance trainer package.
A.W. Beattie Career Center is one of over 80 CTCs in Pennsylvania. Thousands of students earn industry certifications for local jobs in high demand, so they graduate on a path for success. Under the program, grants of up to $85,000 are awarded to school entities to update or purchase equipment used in the training of students in approved career and technical education programs.
